MATER is the last great Basque tuna fishing boat made of wood. Saved from scrapping by the Itsas Gela de Pasaia association in 2003, today it is converted into an Ecoactive Museum Ship.
MATER is led by a team of professionals who seek to spread their passion for culture and the marine environment in order to help their conservation. For this mission it develops campaigns and projects of environmental awareness and education through MATER Ekoaktiboa; in addition to an extensive program of activities to know, love and conserve the Jaizkibel-Ulia-Pasaia maritime heritage through MATER Museoa.
