There are almost one million Euskera speakers, and not all of them are from the Basque Country. Some people have arrived from other places, and have decided to learn it.

The beginning of September - from August 28 to September 8 - will see the celebration of the Euskal Jaiak or Fiestas Vascas (“Basque Festivals”) in Donostia. These local festivities bring together the best of culture, sports, culinary arts, folklore and Basque traditions.

At San Sebastian-Donostia Tourist Office we want to show everyone who visits us the best of our city and we use the BASQUE CHALLENGE to present EUSKERA, our language. Every year we prepare a challenge based around Basque culture. The first is to repeat this sentence in Basque:"Ni gai naiz, zuek ere izango al zinatekete?"
