THE MUSEUM

The idea of the creation of the "Museum of Machine-Tool" arises in 1982, as a result of the first steps to the creation of the "Museum of Science and Technique" in Barakaldo (Bizkaia). Realizing that the new industrial revolution that was taking place in recent years, this resulted in the development of electronics and computer science, forcing the almost immediate renovation of a machinery park, which responded to basThis brings awareness of the importance for our country of the recovery of the 19th century machinery and, specifically, its most representative models, manufactured by our pioneers in those late years. We felt like we were in time to restore many of these machines back. These represent an incalculable Industrial Heritage, and perhaps, build a strong base to our specialized museum.

Although the Barakaldo Museum project had already collected several ancient machines and catalogued the existence of many others located in various workshops around the country; it was in the year 1991, when the Elgoibar Machine-Tool Institute began the collecting for funds to bring back many of the machines manufactured in our country during the early 20th century, as well as some influential American, English and German machines.

MUSEUM TIMETABLE

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 -13:00 and 14:30 -17:30
  • Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays CLOSED
    • 17 and 18 of energy (San Antón). Aug.
    • December 20 to January 7.

TICKETS

  • 2 €. Free admission for children under 10 years old accompanied by an adult and museum friends.
